Chapel of Rest

H L Hawes & Son Funeral Directors aim to provide the highest possible standards of care, choice and dignity to those who suffer bereavement and to create and maintain an environment where the bereaved can pay their respects and remember a loved one in the way they feel most appropriate and in accordance to the deceased's wishes, religious and cultural needs.

All of our funeral homes have a dedicated private chapel of rest where you can visit your loved one.

Some people find it helps with the acceptance of death and aids their grief to visit a loved-one in the Chapel of Rest.

Small mementos may be placed in the coffin but please inform us of your intention to do so as we need to know whether these items are to remain with the deceased or returned to you prior to sealing the coffin for the funeral.

All items to remain in the coffin with the deceased will be recorded in the mortuary register.

Private ceremony before the funeral

We also provide the use of a Chapel where the family and mourners may gather to hold a private ceremony before the funeral.

Disability

In accordance to the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) we have made reasonable adjustments to the physical environment of all our premises to ensure that disabled people can access our services and facilities with the installation of permanent ramps and use of portable ramps to allow wheelchair access, when required.
